In early 2024, old friend and lover Chris Hassell told me he was thinking about publishing a pop culture magazine via his creative studio Ralph (named after Ralph Wiggum). He had the strap line “pop culture for the fun of it” as he (and I) thought magazines today were a bit too serious. In March asked me to edit it and I got another lover James-Lee Duffy to design a brilliantly fun and inane and interesting magazine in a record two and a bit months – it’s packed with great writing, brilliant photography and illustration, weird comics, a fashion shoot at Mumbai Comic Con, stand up comedy, the iconic Max Halley on food, Olivia Tiedemann’s favourite NYC pizza places, a comic called Batman & Rodin, things that might be made up, reviews of random Instagram accounts, Flavor Flav, Mia Khalifa, Ahilya Bamroo and Nobel Prize winner Jon Fosse tell us the weather and loads more. With the wonderful Burn Gorman on the cover in his first ever profile interview, @ralph.mag’s a nod to the fun chaos of 90s magazines but done for today. Available in all good magazine stores and some ok ones around the world.
