I bumped into friend and acclaimed photographer Alex de Mora at a photo exhibition and had a nice chat over some warm wine. He was telling me and my partner in Pavement Licker, James-Lee Duffy, about his recent trip to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia, to discover and shoot the major players of its hip-hop scene. He was like, “I want to make a book of the photos.” And there was a short pause where we all realised a collaboration had just appeared. Using 80s hip-hop zines as an inspiration James went to town with his hand typography throughout the book and it is a total rapper’s delight.
