James and I been wanting to put on a big Pavement Licker show for a very long time but we knew it had to be for the right reasons and something a bit different. Then art dealer Jennifer McCormick, founder of Helium London, called us up about potentially putting on something together. From that phone called emerged the idea to get a mix of 50 up and coming and established artists that were connected to us in some way to paint a paving slab each, which we’d then sell in a blind sale for £1000. Artists involved included Antony Gormley, FAILE, Robert Del Naja, Ralph Steadman, VHILS, Alex May Hughes, Will Martyr, Anthony Lister, Rutger de Vries, Patrick Morales-Lee, Gold Peg, Fred Coppin and many, many more. (well, 37 more). All the works were on show for a special one-night only party held on Portland Place, London as well as in a special, limited edition hard backed, gold embossed book that we made for the show. We raised over £53,000 and all the money went to Rett UK – a charity very dear to our heart.
